Nick Clegg is to give a speech tomorrow aimed at driving culture change in the workplace to remove the stigma currently attached to flexible working. Mr Clegg is expected to explain that it means “sweeping away the clapped-out rules that make no sense for modern families in a modern economy. Today’s households aren’t all comprised of one breadwinner and one homemaker – mum in the kitchen, dad in the office.”
The proposal will give all workers the right to demand flexible working and is aimed at getting more women back to work. Mr. Clegg is expected to announce that there are a million women missing from the economy and their absence is costing us dearly.
