How a little too much cleavage can cost you a job interview
Recent research conducted by TK Maxx and reported in the Daily Mail indicates that turning up to a job interview in a tight top or with cleavage on display is the quickest way for a woman to blow her chances of securing the job. Wearing a black bra under a white top came a close second.
The research also indicated that men can ruin their prospects by turning up in a badly ironed shirt, high-waisted trousers or sporting a comedy tie.
The survey, commissioned by TK Maxx, took in the views of 2,000 employers and found that a third of bosses make a decision in the first 90 seconds of an interview.
With 65% of those surveyed claiming that clothing could be the deciding factor when two candidates are otherwise neck and neck, it is vital to give a good first impression by wearing the right clothes or, in such a competitive job market, it's possible that you may have ruined your chances of securing a job before you've even opened your mouth.
Play safe by wearing well-fitted, ironed clothes in neutral colours and bear in mind that an overwhelming 81% of employers said that wearing a suit to an interview suggests that you are both organised and efficient!
